And the award for world's worst mother goes to...

... ME! Well, for my acceptance speech I would like to thank my poor judgement and inability to watch my child and get anything done at the same time.
In all seriousness, I think Caylee and I learned a very important lesson last night... No matter how hard she tries, or how much she wants to, she can not fly. (Or land on her feet for that matter). Caylee took a flying leap off the chair and has a bit of a rug burn on her forehead. I know they say kids are resilient, but I really didn't think I would have to be worrying about head injuries at 7 months. For the record, I blame Kyle for this. God is just giving him a little daredevil child to show him what he put his parents through, and I am the Innocent bystander caught up in this! Thankfully, I think I cried more than she did and it doesn't seem to be bothering her one little bit. I really do feel awful though; so why not memorialize my neglectful actions on my blog...

Busy, busy, busy

So it has been a busy, busy week! It started with Caylee's very first wedding. She was such a good sport through the whole evening. Then, Caylee got to walk around downtown Denver with Grandma while we went to a concert. On Saturday, we went back down to Denver to go to the Art Museum.
Caylee in a fish hat at the museum... She wore it for all of two seconds. Just long enough to get a picture.

So Caylee always has her arms raised just like this statue. When we saw it we thought it would be great to get her to do the same thing, but of course she would not perform for a picture :)

After the museum we went to the Colorado National Speedway to watch some late model and stock car races. We were afraid the noise would bother her, but she was so tired it didn't seem to matter.

After such a busy week we had a lot of house work to catch up on and our little helper was quick to help with the dishes. Every time we would put something in the dishwasher she would take it out and put it on the floor.

So on the last blog I posted pictures of our new house that we were waiting to hear back from the bank on... Well, we got tired of waiting and fell into this one. We are set to close the end of Oct.

This is the living room. It is small, but I love the character!

This is the staircase... Did I mention how much Character this house has?!?

Me talking with the inspector in our new kitchen :)
My favorite part of the entire house!

Old pictures...

Ok, so these are old pictures, but after ten weeks, 4 motherboards, and a fan I finally got my laptop back this afternoon! Time to catch up :) So these pictures are of Kris' and Grandma K's trip to Colorado, Caylee's baptism, and our *cross your fingers* new house...

First time swimming! She doesn't look happy, but she really did have a good time :)

A picture with her sponsor's (all except her Aunt Jess who was home with her own little one)

4 generations... It was such a blessing that my grandmother was able to come out to see her very first great grand baby being baptized!

Here are a couple pictures of the house... It needs a little bit of work, but for the price it can't be beat!!

Absences makes the heart grow fonder...

First off, I would like to apologize for my absence recently. My laptop was sent to the Best Buy service center because it stopped turning on... After five weeks, they 'replaced' the motherboard and sent it back. I picked it up and drove home, excited to finally catch up on all of the many pics I have been waiting to share. I joyfully plugged in my laptop and... IT STILL WOULDN'T TURN ON! Apparently, the repairs were never made and it is back at the Best Buy service center... again, waiting for a new motherboard... So I can no longer take living in the dark ages ;) and have plugged in the old dinosaur of a desktop. It is slow, but it turns on, so without further adieu... An update on the Jones family :)
Caylee LOVES bananas! Having said that, Kyle does not love that Caylee loves bananas... It is amazing how something that smells as good as fruit can smell so retched coming out :)

Caylee is 6 months old today!! To celebrate the occasion Caylee decided to reach a major milestone... A little too early if you ask me. She has been pulling herself to her feet using the arm of the couch or my shirt for a little while now, but today she was sitting on the floor and pulled herself up on two separate occasions... SO PROUD!!

This picture is the one that motivated me to find a way to upload these photos on my blog... She is actually standing entirely on her own!

More to come shortly... Hoping to finally have my laptop back by the end of this week...

Couldn't wait...

So I know I already put up one post tonight, but I just couldn't wait to share this. A friend of mine is an amazing photographer and offered to take Caylee's picture. She has only posted this one picture so far, but I will be sharing more when I get them...
LOOK AT THOSE BEAUTIFUL EYES!!!

4 month check up

We had Caylee's 4 month visit with Dr. Kolanz and she is a very happy and healthy 15 lb. 2 oz. and an impressive 26 inches long. I am proud to share that the doctor said she is, "well ahead of the game." She is getting better and better at sitting up unassisted and is extremely vocal. They suspect that she will be crawling quite soon. I am such a proud mommy :)
So to celebrate the good news with the doctor we gave her, her very first beer... Ok, we didn't give her a beer, but boy did she want one. She kept grabbing Kyle's any time he would turn his head, so I had to get a picture. Since she she will not take a regular bottle maybe we should just put formula in a beer bottle... Grandma and Grandpa Serby gave Caylee this play blanket. It is the coolest thing EVER! Each square represents a member of the family with something they love and their names, and everything does something or make some kind of noise. There are squeakers, bells, rattles, and even a Jesus Loves Me book. She loves her blanket very much!

We are practicing for football season... Maybe by football season she will be a little better at sitting in her rocking chair that Grandma Jones gave her.

She loves cuddling with her elephant. It is one of the only ways I can get her to take a nap.

To see things like a child...

In my opinion, one of the coolest things about being a mom is the fresh perspective that you get on virtually every aspect of your life. I frequently find myself wondering what Caylee is thinking. For her, every day brings new experiences and new things to stick in her mouth :) What would it be like to remember those times? The first time you felt grass? Or in our most recent case, the first experience with a spoon? It makes me realize that the important moments in life really are the small ones. Thanks to Caylee, my world is a more beautiful and simple place and I wouldn't change for anything.

Caylee with my friend, Maya at her daughter's b-day party. She didn't really like the birthday hat too well...

She did, however, really like the big girl swing!

... And her fingers... as usual.

First taste of some yummy rice cereal.

Not only did she really seem to enjoy the cereal, but she LOVED the spoon! I wish that I had gotten a picture of it, but she was grabbing it out of my hand and putting it in her mouth. Too cute!

We are hoping she will continue to enjoy the rice cereal, and maybe it will fill her up enough to help her sleep through the night... Mommy would be thrilled!! :)

Jack of all trades

Today Caylee spent so long with her books that I just had to get a picture and post it. She spend almost a whole hour reading her Noah's Ark book; and by reading I mean eating...
She looks like she is trying to turn the page... Man she's smart :)

Playing Guitar Hero with daddy... What can't this girl do?!?!

Just had to show some more pictures of our beautiful and talented little treasure...

Take me out to the ball game...

It looked like cousin Landon had so much fun at his first baseball game that we just had to do that too! Our friends Katie, Lindsey, and her 3 year old son Willie, met us at the Rockies game for an afternoon of fun.

We learned after the game that Caylee has some strong feelings towards Todd Helton...

After the game we all met Chris and Todd for a picnic in the Park. Unfortunately, while we were playing someone ran into Katie and Lindsey's rental car.

A warm day ended in a chilly night waiting for police reports, tow trucks, and a new rental car. Finally, after almost five hours our adventure ended with a tired and hungry baby, cold and tired parents and a dog that had a blast... Overall, it was a pretty great day :)

March for Babies

This past Saturday the 25th several of us participated in the March of Dimes, March for Babies walk in loving memory of my friend's first born, Lily Raine. We gathered a team of about 13 people who, I am proud to say, raised over $800 in two weeks for research in preventing infant fatalities from birth defects, prematurity, and stillbirth. Kyle and I bundled Caylee up and pulled out the stroller for the first time. We met my parents for the five mile walk through the city. The weather was chilly and sleeting rain; and with every step I had to thank God for my healthy baby girl sleeping soundly in her stroller. It was very moving to see so many people walking for their own personal reasons. I walked for the hope that no other mother will have to experience the loss of their precious child and to keep the memory of sweet little Lily alive. Hopefully, next year my dear friend will be able to bundle up her new little addition and join us in walking for Lily...

Beautiful Lily, Gone too soon...

Swetsville Zoo

So today we decided to take advantage of the 80 degree weather and doing something fun. We went to the Swetsville Zoo, which is the most creative and unique sculpture garden I have seen. All the animals and people are made out of old car and tractor parts. Caylee didn't care about most of it, but she did enjoy the wind chimes and the part where you could bang on different size pipes and oil pans. Overall, not a bad little road side attraction... Much better than the worlds largest prairie dog farm...
